2025 … In the Pursuit of Joy, Sunshine and Healing!

As we step into 2025, I’ve decided this year is all about one thing: joy… or rather, the pursuit of it. Not the big, flashy moments (although I wouldn’t say no to a jackpot win … big or small Universe, I’ll take it!), but the kind of joy that’s warm, steady, and grounding—like sunshine. “Sunshine”…

One Word to Shape the Year … (or in my cases, two!)

    December 31, 2024January 4, 2025
    2 Comments

Every year on January 1st, my mom would choose a single word to guide her through the year. No long lists of resolutions or lofty goals—just one word to focus on for the next 12 months. I scrolled through her social media recently and found her last word from the beginning of 2022: Thrive. She…

The Hard Side of the Holidays

The holidays aren’t always the picture-perfect moments we see in movies. For many, it’s a season of grief, loneliness, or navigating tricky dynamics. For me, it’s the time of year when I miss my mom the most, where I don’t get to take our kid(s) to sit on Santa’s lap or send out family Christmas…

How Do We Make Sense of Things That Makes No Sense?

Honestly, some things in life just don’t make sense—and trying to force them to? It’ll drive you batshit crazy (yet here we are!). Whether it’s heartbreak, loss, the actions of others, why my brain remember the cringiest shit from 10 years ago? Cool, love that for me. Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason. And yet,…

Nurturing Mental Health | Unapologetically Authentic | Navigator of Grief | Ally | Your biggest hype girl 💕

2025 — the year of… honestly, I don’t even know wh 2025 — the year of… honestly, I don’t even know what to call it.

My highlights were Alaska & travelling with my love, a girls weekend away w my bee, and the many girls’ nights that filled my cup.

Each year my mom would choose a word for the year. Last year, mine words were heal, sunshine, and magic.

Halfway through the year, my husband wrote on my mirror: “Don’t postpone joy” And the truth is, I was / am. Scared to move on. Scared to fully enjoy life. Scared and waiting for another tragic thing to happen. I’m still working through that, and clearly need to unpack more in counselling in 2026!

So my moving-forward word for 2026 — Joy, Lively & a sprinkle of magic - as always!

Pick your word. Live it fully.

Happy New Year ✨
Because this is my Talkmentaltome space, I’m showi Because this is my Talkmentaltome space, I’m showing up anyway - Anxiety’s thriving, Depression wasn’t as chill as I thought (shoutout to my psychiatrist for the plot twist), and I’m currently surviving off chips, chocolate chip cookies from Whole Foods, tears, and electrolytes.

Real life, real talk, still here.
Sometimes it feels like everyone else is ten steps Sometimes it feels like everyone else is ten steps ahead - thriving, healing, doing the damn thing - while you’re just trying to keep it together in your own lane. (Or am I alone here…)

But here’s your reminder (and mine):

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.
So is your healing.
So is your growth.
So is the version of you you keep chasing.
You’re not behind, you’re building. You’re learning, unlearning, and trying again - which counts for more than you give yourself credit for.

Healing doesn’t look like a straight road. It looks like detours, breakdowns, and snack stops - but you still get where you’re meant to go. 🚙💛

Today’s episode of “me trying to handle my mental Today’s episode of “me trying to handle my mental health” 🧵✨

I once heard from the amazing @gritworkshops that you can’t be anxious and create at the same time — and honestly, that stuck with me. So here I am… creating A LOT. It’s my way of keeping my hands busy and my brain a little quieter.

I think I’m going to keep this quilt for myself… but knowing me, the second someone says they love it, it might just walk out the door with them 😂. Quilts are meant to be hugged and shared, right?

P.S. If you’re a fabric person like me — @connectingthreads is having a Flannel Sale right now. Dangerously good timing. 👀

The world and some people are kinda terrifying me The world and some people are kinda terrifying me lately, and with that, my mental health is circling the drain — so naturally ... I’m coping by not doom scrolling on social and I am aggressively creating. So … here’s a video of me making a cheery pillowcase for my husband to take camping🏕️ (his fav way to reset his mental health!)

My mom used to stitch a little bee 🐝 whenever she was feeling down. Me? I’ve tried and I suck at hand stitching, so instead today I made three fun pillowcases.

Oh … and Be Kind Bro shirt by @notsoplainjanedesign a reminder we all clearly need lately!

Just leaving this here, because the world feels pr Just leaving this here, because the world feels pretty scary and my heart is heavy:

1. Protect your mental health. Guard it fiercely — no one else will.

2. Cut out the noise. If someone isn’t adding good to your life - online or off, it’s okay to unfollow, block, or take space. Listen to your heart.

3. To those who are shrinking themselves to fit in. Stop. The world needs you at your full volume.

4. Find your people — the ones who fight beside you, not against you. Find your ‘yellow’. The ones who add sunshine and light and joy to your world. The ones you don’t need to hide parts of yourself.

5. Don’t confuse “keeping the peace” with justice. Speak your truth. The right ones will stay in the room and listen. Let’s be *very* clear: human rights are not a “difference of opinion.” They are non-negotiable.
Easiest way to lure me in! 🧵✨ But in all honesty, Easiest way to lure me in! 🧵✨

But in all honesty, quilting and creating has become my new calm — the thing that keeps my mind grounded and my heart a little lighter. Since losing my mom, who was an award-winning textile artist, creating has become a way to heal and to feel close to her again. 💛

I’ve been making quilts and my newest obsession… birthday banners for all ages! Stay tuned to see what I create with the Stay Wild Layer Cake and beautiful threads.
